The first DOJO |
The Dojo is a place of study meditation, effort and contact. A serious and respectful attitude is necessary in order to progress. The first Dojo named Kodokan was created in Japan by Shihan Jigoro Kano.
The necessary attitude to have in the Dojo is:
- The respect of the places: the arrival and the departure of Dojo must be marked by the greeting (RITSU-REI) each time of going on or out the Tatami. The Tatami is the surface of combat or exercise on which the Judoka practices Judo.
|
The Dojo must be left in a perfect order and in the greatest state of property
-
The respect of other people: at the beginning and at the end of the session, the students and the professor greet themselves (ZAREI). It is necessary to greet the partner before and after each exercise but also before and after each combat. The Judoka must have the authorization of the professor to leave the Tatami.
-
The mutual help and solidarity: the highest ranked Judoka has the duty to serve and to help the beginners but also to illustrate an exemplary attitude in the Dojo. It is advisable to listen to their advice with awareness. The Judoka should help his partners to progress and not to cause nuisance.
